Online Bridge Lessons with Alan Grant
Lesson 1 – Wednesday, 9 September at 5pm NYC time / 10pm UK time: We start with leads and early‑hand signals, using UDCA as our core system. You’ll see how these signals help partner read the hand, place key cards, and choose effective defensive continuations.
Lesson 2 – Wednesday, 16 September at 5pm NYC time / 10pm UK time: The second session builds on the first, plus includes a focus on discards and how they can convey information. We’ll also explore special defensive situations where clear suit‑preference signals can be the difference between beating the contract and watching it make.
If you want to strengthen your defence, these lessons will be well worth attending. Each lesson will last approximately 1 hour.

About Alan Grant
Alan Grant is one of New Zealand’s most popular and respected bridge teachers. Having taught beginners through expert players since the 1980s, Alan is a respected presenter at the New Zealand National Congress and has played a key role in the redevelopment of NZ Bridge’s teaching materials. Alan finds teaching deeply rewarding, and his students frequently commend him for his clear instruction, structured guidance, and supportive learning environment.
As a player, Alan has a long and impressive record at both national and international level. He represented New Zealand six times in the Bermuda Bowl and Asia Pacific Championships as part of the Open team between 1997 and 2008. More recently, he has competed internationally in the Mixed and Seniors categories, including representing New Zealand Seniors at the 2019 international events and again at the 2024 World Bridge Games in Buenos Aires.
