Adam went back into the archive to find a few sets on one of his favorite recurring themes: When to Draw Trumps. (In case you didn’t know, Adam wrote the book on this subject!).
This bundle of four lessons—six hands each—will give you a great sense of how fantastic this class is. On each of these hands, choose a master hand and ask yourself, “Is there a reason not to draw trumps?”
- Lesson 1: These hands are all 4-4 fits. Make sure you start by choosing a master hand!
- Lesson 2: A couple of fun conventions in this set, including a Support Redouble and Fourth Suit Forcing. And a couple of takeout doubles by the opponents that might give you some insight about the hand.
- Lesson 3: A couple of tricky slams in this set. Take your time!
- Lesson 4: I can’t condone all of the bidding on these, but they’re how the hands were bid in real life! You got to some really good fits and some not so great fits. Good luck!
Lessons will remain available to view for at least one year.

Adam’s Teaching Philosophy:
“Bridge is a game, and above all is meant to be fun. This approach is the backbone of my teaching philosophy. It’s very hard to learn when you’re down on yourself, so I strive to keep things enjoyable and positive create an environment that fosters learning.
My focus is on logic and thought-process. Learning new conventions is fun, and there is plenty of value there. But knowing the system you already play and understanding the fundamentals of bidding and cardplay are significantly more important. So my teaching focuses more on declarer play, defense, and bidding fundamentals and less on exotic conventions. I want to be sure you not only know what the correct bid or play is, but why it is the correct thing to do.”
